Some of you may wonder if I am the same person. The answer is “Yes” as I have taken a Deed Poll to change my name from Lee Chiang Lee Albert to Lee Huang Yang Albert for life well-being.
Appreciation To start afresh and right I would like to thank all the past Presidents and Management Committees in keeping our Beatty Alumni active and relevant. On behalf of Beatty Alumni I wish to express our gratitude to the past and present Principals including their teaching staff and management team of Beatty Secondary School for their unwavering support all these years. Our Beatty Alumni Patron Mr Low Cheng Lum deserves a special mention for his strong passion and generosity he had demonstrated and contributed to Beatty Alumni all these years and to Beatty Secondary School financially in aiding deserving and financially challenged students. The hall mark of his generosity was the establishment of Low Cheng Lum Annual Scholarship Award Fund. He did not stop here and went on to bear the cost of air-conditioning of the new school hall for the comfort of the students. He even voluntarily called up the school principal to offer financial aid to students during the SAR period. He is definitely a man who holds great passion for his alma mater and remains humble all these while and respecting everyone regardless of status. We thank you Mr Low Cheng Lum. We wish to thank the 58 cohorts for their unwavering support always and also remembering our late Beattyian Alumnus Mr Roland Chou for his past valuable contribution and effort in making Beatty Alumni active and relevant. Beatty Alumni Social Event (BASE) & Membership Recruitment On Saturday 18 July 2009 the Beatty Alumni organised a revisit to our First Beatty Home, ie the Old Beatty Secondary School at 1 Beatty Road off Serangoon Road as this premises is scheduled to be demolished to give way to a new educational building. We were pleased to see the cohorts from the year 55 and 70s joining this event and two of them signed up as Life Member on the day itself. Our Alumni shall be holding a minimum of one BASE gathering in each calendar month for all our Beattyians to gather for fellowship and interaction along the motto of Beatty Alumni. Our approach to get more Beattyians to join is to make them feel welcome and at home in all these events we are organising and on their own sign up as Life Member. Again the school motto “Non Vi Sed Arte” is practiced. Communication Our Beatty Alumni website has been revamped to make it interactive and relevant. Beatty Alumni members can have their own email address like

for free. In this way members can communicate and update their own cohort group on their latest details without disturbing their personal or office email account. We seek the support of our members to update themselves on the events and news by visiting our website www.beattyalumni.org.sg. We do understand that some of our Senior Members do not surf the internet frequently however we encourage them to get their family members or friends to assist and by doing so it indirectly promote good family communication opportunity. Conclusion Do feel free to forward your comments and suggestions through our Beatty Alumni website and our team will pick it up from there. Good suggestions will be adopted to improve the alumni role. Non Vi Sed Arte (Not With Force but With Skill) let us synergise and make our Beatty Alumni relevant to all our Beattyians and the School Management always.
